A tweet by Hindenburg Research on breaking another ‘big news’ created a sensation on social media on Thursday, March 23rd. The tweet, which alluded to another imminent Hindenburg Research report, triggered a barrage of speculations from social media users.
Notably, on January 24th, Hindenburg Research, a short-selling firm, published a 106-page research report accusing Indian industrialist Gautam Adani’s conglomerate. Hindenburg Research’s report alleged that the Adani Group was involved in the brazen manipulation of stock prices and other stock market malpractices.
Hindenburg Research’s report alleged that there is a wide gap between the financial position of Adani’s companies and their share prices. Hindenburg Research’s report also alleged that the stock prices of the companies were inflated through stock manipulation and other fraudulent practices.
Furthermore, Hindenburg Research’s allegations highlighted that between 2019 and 2022, the share price of Adani’s seven companies increased by 819% due to such manipulations.
After the publication of Hindenburg Research’s report, the Adani Group’s share price nosedived incessantly, and the conglomerate accused Hindenburg Research of defamation and spreading misinformation.
The revelation of Hindenburg Research’s report also prompted India’s Opposition to demand the formation of a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to probe the allegations against Adani. Besides, the opposition parties also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of having an obnoxious alliance with Adani.
In the background of such political furore, speculations about the content of the prospective Hindenburg Research report are again on the rise, although Hindenburg Research is yet to reveal any sort of clues about the content.
