Supreme Court verdict on NEET PG 2023 postponement – How aspirants reacted to the verdict

The SC verdict on the NEET PG 2023 postponement, drew mixed reactions from the aspirants who had pinned their hopes on the apex court.

Fourteen opposition parties moved to the Supreme Court alleging the misuse of the federal agencies by the BJP.

The Supreme Court, on Monday, February 27th, refused to entertain a petition for seeking the NEET PG 2023 postponement. The SC verdict on the plea regarding the NEET PG 2023 postponement drew mixed reactions from the aspirants.

The aspirants who were in favour of the NEET PG 2023 postponement cited that the National Medical Council (NMC) had provided a two month gap between the last date of the NEET PG 2022 counselling (January 30th, 2023) and the scheduled date of the NEET PG 2023 examination (March 5th, 2023). The gap, according to the aspirants, is not enough for the adequate preparation for the examination.

In their opinion, the NMC should have provided a gap of four to five months instead.

Furthermore, they said that the gap between the NEET PG 2023 examination and the commencement of NEET PG 2023 counselling should have been two to three months instead of the NMC proposed gap of six months.

A few Twitter users accused that there has been a foul play, for which they lashed out at lack of unity among the medical fraternity.

Some aspirants expressed their grievances that during the covid emergency, the examination was postponed, but when the aspirants pleaded for the same citing the alleged technological and administrative mismanagement of the NMC, their plea was turned down.

On the other hand, the aspirants, who seemingly preferred the status quo, took to the social media and appealed to have the SC verdict on the NEET PG 2023 postponement as a fait accompli and wished good luck to their fellow doctors for the ensuing examination.
