Veteran Bollywood actor and director Satish Kaushik, famously known for his role as a comedian in various Hindi films, passed away on Thursday, March 9th, at the age of 66.
Kaushik suffered a heart attack while staying at the house of his friend in Gurugram. He died on the way to a hospital. His dead body will be flown to his home in Mumbai after the postmortem in New Delhi.
Distinguished Hindi film personalities such as Anupam Kher, Ajay Devgan, Kangana Ranawat, and Abhishek Bachchan, among others, expressed their grief upon hearing the news of Kaushik’s death. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to Twitter to condole his death.
An alumnus of the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi and the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, Kaushik added many a plume to his hat. Besides being a thespian talent in both theatre and film, he was also a film director and directed films such as Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Prem, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain and Tere Naam, among others.
He was awarded the Filmfare Best Comedian award twice for his much-acclaimed roles in Ram Lakhan and Saajan Chale Sasural in 1990 and 1997 respectively.
Kaushik is survived by his wife and daughter.
